Selection of awesome lettering, inspired by graffiti art
Graffiti art is a solid foundation for many future graphic designers and art directors. The main reason behind that is the total freedom every hip hop element holds in its core and the graffiti art is not an exclusion. While art schools are quite often dogmatic, “graffiti” school is most inspiring future artists to be unique and to search for their own style.
We all know that hip hop culture is a source of many talents in various art fields. Hip hop artists are brave to go beyond the traditions of the culture and experiment by mixing arts and provoking the audience. Moreover, many graffiti artists, mc’s and dancers quite often reach audience that is traditionally not familiar with hip hop by implementing concepts or techniques into more commercial or conservative fields. We should never blame artistic tryouts because they are symbol of open minded and brave to experiment artists. Needless to say, I exclude posh and untrue art forms that present hip hop form in unwanted for true pioneers way – that is what we have to fight against.
This is the first of a several articles in which we are going to present artists and their work that used graffiti, dancing or other skills as a foundation on which later they built on in order to create product. In the first article, we curated a set of lettering and tags clearly influenced by graffiti art. We hope that may inspire those of you fascinated by visual arts. If you like some of those, support the artist by finding him or her on Instagram and following his or her page.
